UPPER SHELL

Note: The Upper Shell is worked in joined rounds. At the end of each round, join with a sl st in the first stitch of the round.

With color A, make a Magic Ring.
Round 1: ch2 (does not count as a st now and throughout), (2dc-cl, ch1)x 6 in the Magic Ring; sl st to join; fasten off. (6 sts, 6 ch-sp)

Note: For the following rounds, work sts in chain spaces only, starting in same ch-sp you joined yarn. With color B, join in any ch-sp.

Round 2: ch2, (2dc-cl inc, ch1)x 6; sl st to join; fasten off. (12 sts, 12 ch-sp) With color C, join in any ch-sp.
Round 3: ch2, (2dc-cl, ch1, 2dc-cl inc, ch1)x 6; sl st to join; fasten off. (18 sts, 18 ch-sp) With color D, join in any ch-sp.

ASSEMBLY

JOINING BOTH PARTS OF THE SHELL
With D (Elephant Gray), make a slip knot on your hook. Place the wrong sides of the Upper and Lower Shells together, aligning the sts of the Lower Shell with the sts of the Upper Shell (each ch-sp and 2dc-cl on the Upper Shell counts as a st).

Working through both layers to join them together, *sc, skip 2 sts, 5dc in next st, skip 2 sts (shell st made); repeat from * around, adding stuffing before closing completely; sl st to join. (14 shell sts)

ATTACHING THE TAIL
Sew the Tail at Round 12 of the Lower Shell, between any 2 shell sts.

ATTACHING THE HEAD
Sew the Head at Round 12 of the Lower Shell, directly opposite the Tail, on the other side of the shell.

ATTACHING THE FLIPPERS
Sew each front Flipper 2 shell sts away from the Head, one on each side.

Sew each back Flipper 5 shell sts away from the Head, one on each side.
