My package says delivered but I can’t find it.
Sometimes carriers mark packages as delivered a little early. We recommend waiting 24–48 hours and checking around your delivery area, mailbox, parcel lockers, front desk, or with neighbors.
If your package still cannot be located after that, please contact us with your order number. We’ll gladly help investigate the shipment and guide you through the next steps.
Can I change my order after placing it?
Because we use Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF), orders are processed very quickly. If you need to make changes or cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible after placing it.
Once Amazon begins processing or ships the order, we may no longer be able to make changes or cancel it.
Yarn & Product Questions
What's a dye lot and how do I know how much yarn I need?
A dye lot is the batch of yarn dyed together in the same dye bath. Even with the same colorway recipe, each batch can come out a touch warmer, cooler, lighter, or deeper - it's part of the nature of dyed yarn, and you usually won't notice it until two different lots sit side by side in the middle of a project.
Here's how to make sure that never happens to your make:
Order everything at once. Skeins that ship together in one order usually come from the same dye lot. Splitting your yarn across two orders is the most common way mismatched lots sneak into a project.
Buy one more skein than you think you need. Patterns list yardage, but gauge, tension, and size adjustments all nibble at your supply. An extra skein is cheap insurance - and leftover yarn has a way of becoming a matching hat, a granny square, or the start of your next idea.
Alternate your skeins on big projects. For sweaters, blankets, and anything worked in large stretches of one color, work two skeins at once - switch every couple of rows (knitters) or every few rows (crocheters). This blends any subtle variation invisibly. It's an old maker's trick, and it works even when your lots do match.
Not sure how much you need? As a rough guide, check your pattern's yardage and add 10–15%. Every KnitPal yarn page lists yards per skein, so you can do quick math: pattern yardage ÷ yards per skein, rounded up, plus one.
Are dye lots guaranteed to match?
We do our best to send matching dye lots whenever possible. However, due to inventory availability, we cannot guarantee exact dye lot matches on separate orders. Every dye bath has its own personality, so order all skeins for your project at once, plus a spare for good measure.
Knitting a sweater or crocheting a blanket? Alternating skeins every few rows blends any variation beautifully.
What if a color looks different in person?
We work hard to display yarn colors as accurately as possible, but colors may appear slightly different depending on your screen settings and lighting conditions.
Is this yarn machine washable?
Most KnitPal yarns are machine washable, but care instructions can vary by yarn line. Please check the product page label details and care instructions before washing your finished project.
What yarn weight is best for beginners?
Many beginners enjoy working with worsted weight (#4) yarn because the stitches are easy to see and projects work up fairly quickly. DK weight (#3) yarn is also a great choice for beginners who want softer drape and lighter finished projects. The best beginner yarn is usually one that feels soft, easy to work with, and enjoyable to craft with.
Are your yarns safe for sensitive skin?
All KnitPal yarns are designed to feel soft and comfortable against the skin. We also offer a variety of cotton blend and acrylic yarns that are popular with crafters who are sensitive to wool or prefer non-wool fibers for garments, baby items, and everyday projects. Since sensitivities vary from person to person, we recommend reviewing the fiber content on each product page before purchasing.
Can I substitute KnitPal yarn in other patterns?
Yes. KnitPal yarns can often be substituted into other knitting and crochet patterns by matching the yarn weight, gauge, and fiber type as closely as possible. We recommend making a small swatch before starting your project to help ensure the finished size and fabric feel turn out as expected.
