What You’ll Need

  • Yarn: KnitPal Tweed Twinkles DK (weight #3 - 79% acrylic/21% polyester, 87 ydsper 50 g)This project uses less than 10yds each of three colors. Shown in Coral Pink, Mint Blue, and Cyan Blue.
  • Hook: US E / 3.5 mm crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Notions: Tapestry needle

  • ch: chain
  • dc: double crochet

Special Stitches

Popcorn Stitch

  1. Work 4 double crochets in ring.
  2. Drop working loop from your hook.
  3.  Insert your hook in the 1st dc on your hook.
  4. Grab the dropped loop with your hook and pull it through the 1st st.
  5. Tighten the st to create the pc.

Notes

  • Turning ch does not count as a stitch unless otherwise indicated

POPCORN GRANNY SQUARE – MAKE 3

Round 1: Using CC1, MR, ch3, 3dc in ring, drop loop from hook, insert in 3rd st of ch, pull loop through and tighten st, (ch3, pc in ring) three times, ch3, sl st to join. (4 pcs)

Round 2: Break CC1. Join CC2 in any space, ch3, 2dc, ch3, 3dc in same space, dc in next pc, *(3dc, ch3, 3dc) in next loop, dc in next pc, repeat from * around, sl st to join in 3rd st of ch. (28 sts)

Round 3: Break CC2. Join CC3 in any corner, ch3, (dc, ch2, 2dc) in same space, dc in next 7 dc, *(2dc, ch2, 2dc) in next corner, dc in next 7 sts, repeat from * 2 more times, sl st to join. (44 sts) Fasten off and weave in ends.

FINISHING Block squares. Join 3 squares together on wrong sides. Slip two ends of towel through squares.
