  • Unless stated otherwise, this pattern is worked in continuous rounds. Use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of each round, moving it up each round.

EARS (MAKE 2)

Work in rows.
Row 1: Ch7, skip 1 ch, sc in each st ch, turn. (6 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1 (does not count as a st throughout), dec, sc 2, dec, turn. (4 sts)
Row 3: Ch 1, sc 4, turn.
Row 4: Ch 1, (dec)x 2, turn. (2 sts)
Row 5: Ch 1, sc 2, turn.
Row 6: Ch 1, dec, turn. (1 st)
Row 7: Ch 1, sc.

Cut the yarn and fasten off. Weave in the end.

HEAD

Round 1: 8sc in a Magic Ring. (8 sts)
Round 2: (Sc, inc)x 4. (12 sts)
Round 3: (Sc 2, inc)x 4. (16 sts)
Round 4: (Sc 3, inc)x 4. (20 sts)
Round 5: Sc 8, (inc)x 4, sc 8. (24 sts)
Round 6: Sc 8, (inc, sc)x 2, (sc, inc)x 2, sc 8. (28 sts)
Round 7: Sc 8, (inc, sc 2)x 2, (sc 2, inc)x 2, sc 8. (32 sts)
Rounds 8-11 (4 rounds): Sc 32.

Attach the eyes in the 8th and 17th sts of Round 5.

In the next round, you will crochet the Ears on the Head. When indicated in the pattern, line the foundation chain of the Ear up against the next sts of the Head, insert your hook in the first ch of the Ear, then insert your hook in the next st of the Head, then complete a sc through both layers. Continue to sc through both layers across the Ear (6 sc total).

Round 12: Sc 9, (join first Ear) sc 6, sc 2, (join second Ear) sc 6, sc 9. (32 sts) Round 13: (Sc 2, dec)x 8. (24 sts)
Round 14: (Sc, dec)x 8. (16 sts)

Stuff the Head.

Round 15: (Dec)x 8. (8 sts)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Using a tapestry needle, thread the yarn tail through each st of the last round and pull to close. Hide the yarn end inside the Head.

Cut yarn and fasten off.

ARMS (MAKE 2)

Round 1: 8sc in a Magic Ring. (8 sts)
Round 2: Inc around. (16 sts)
Round 3: Sc 2, (dec)x 6, sc 2. (10 sts)
Rounds 4-9 (6 rounds): Sc 10.

Flatten the top of the Arm, aligning opposite sts; ch1, insert hook in next 2 opposite sts and make a sc, continue making sc through both layers to close (5 sc total).

Cut yarn and fasten off.

LEGS (MAKE 2)

Round 1: 8sc in a Magic Ring. (8 sts)
Round 2: Inc around. (16 sts)
Rounds 3-6 (4 rounds): Sc 16.

For first Leg, cut the yarn and fasten off. For second Leg, continue to Body.

BODY

Continue from second Leg to join Legs together.
Round 1: Sc 16 in first Leg, sc 16 in second Leg. (32 sts)
Rounds 2-10 (9 rounds): Sc 32.
Round 11: (Sc 2, dec)x 8. (24 sts)
Round 12: Sc 24.

 In the next round, you will crochet the Arms on the Body. When indicated in the pattern, with the hand of the Arm facing forwards, insert your hook in the first st of the Arm, then insert your hook in the next st of the Body, then complete a sc through both layers. Continue to sc through both layers across the Arm (5 sc total).
Note: You want the Arms to be on the sides of the Body. Adjust their position for your Puppy if necessary.

Round 13: Sc 5, (join first Arm) sc 5, sc 7, (join second Arm) sc 5, sc 2. (24 sts)

Stuff the Legs and Body.

Round 14: (Sc, dec)x 8. (16 sts)
Rounds 15-16 (2 rounds): Sc 16.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew Body to Head.

ATTACHING HEAD TO BODY

Use pins or knitting needles to pre-determine the correct position of the Head on the Body.
Using the yarn tail from the Body, sew the Body to the Head.
Secure the yarn end, then hide it inside the toy.

EMBROIDERING THE NOSE

With black cotton yarn, stitch a triangle in Round 1 of the Head (see photos).
Fill in the empty triangle with multiple vertical stitches.
Secure the yarn ends, then hide them inside the toy.
