BONNET:
With color A, make 70, 90 chs.
Row 1: Sk 1st ch, sc across, turn. (69,89 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1 (do not count as st, here and after), sc, (ch 1, sk 1 st, sc)x (34,44), turn. (35,45 sc sts)
Row 3: Ch 1, sc, sc in ch sp, (ch 1, sc in ch sp)x (33,43), sc, turn. (36,46 sc sts)
Rows 4-36 (33 rows): Repeat the rows 2 and 3. Finish with row 2.
Rows 37-44 (8 rows for size L only): Repeat the rows 2 and 3.
Last Row for both Sizes: Ch 1, sc in each st and ch sp across. (69,89 sts)
Fasten off and cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Fold the bonnet by aligning both corners of the last row (lengthwise OR shorter sides together).
Sew the last row together using the long tail left from fastening off the last row. Remember the fold is the back of the bonnet and the sewn edge (last row) is the top of the bonnet.
Fasten off and cut the yarn. Weave in all the ends.
Front Border: Attach the yarn on the edge of Row 1.
Row 1: Ch 1, sc on the edge of each row (36,44)sts, continue working along the other side of each row (36,44)sts, turn. (72,88 sts)
Rows 2-3: Ch 1, sc in each st across.
Fasten off and cut the yarn. Weave in all the ends.
Cut 6 strands 12-inches long from both colors of yarn. Pass 3 strands of each color together (6 strands) through the corner st (see photo n downloadable PDF). Braid each of the 6 strands together and finish with a knit. Trim the ends.
