MITTENS (MAKE 2)
With Color A, ch 32 (size S), 48 (size L), sl st into 1st ch to join.
Round 1: Ch 1 (do count as st, here and after), (sc 1, ch 1, sk 1 ch)x (16,24), sl st to join. (16,24 sts, and ch sps)
Round 2: Ch 1, (ch 1, sk 1 st, sc in ch sp)x (16,24), sl st to join. (16,24 sts and ch sps)
Round 3: Ch 1, (sc in ch sp, ch 1, sk 1 st)x (16,24), sl st to join. (16,24 sts, and ch sps)
With Color B
Round 4: Ch 1, (ch 1, sk 1 st, sc in ch sp)x (16,24), sl st to join. (16,24 sts and ch sps)
Rounds 5-16 (12 rounds): Repeat the sequence from Rounds 1 to 4, 4 times. Rounds 1-3 are in Color A and Round 4 is in Color B for all repeats.
Rounds 17-20 (4 rounds for large size only): Repeat the sequence from Rounds 1 to 4.
Count the next row as 1 row. Work in all sts and ch sps unless mentioned otherwise.
With Color A,
Row 1: Ch 1 (do not count as st here and after), dec, sc, (ch 1, sk 1 st, sc in ch sp)x (5,9) dec, turn. (8,12 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, dec, sc, (ch 1, sk 1 st, sc in ch sp)x (4,8) dec, turn. (7,11 sts)
Row 3: Ch 1, dec, sc, (ch 1, sk 1 st, sc in ch sp)x (3,7) dec, turn. (6,10 sts)
Switch to Color B,
Row 4: Ch 1, (dec)x 2, sc, (dec)x 2.
Fasten off and cut the yarn.
Repeat the Sequence from Row 1 to 4 in the remaining sts of Round(16,20).
Take a 15-inch-long piece of Color A, use this yarn to sew the sides and top from Rows 1 to 4.
Fasten off and cut the yarn. Weave in all the ends.
BRAIDS (MAKE 2)
Cut 3 25-inch pieces of yarn from both colors (6 strands in total).
Make a braid using these strands. Make knots on each end of the braids.
Trim both ends of the braids.
Weave the braid through the ch sps of Round 2 (see photo in downloadable PDF)
