SOLES (MAKE 4)
With Color A, ch 12 (size S), ch 16 (size L).
Round 1: Ch 3 (count as 1st dc here and after), 2dc into 1st ch, dc (10,14), 6 dc in the last ch, (work on the other side of the foundation ch) dc (10,14), 3 dc in the 1st ch, sl st to join. (32,40 sts)
Round 2: Ch 3, dc in the same st (2dc in same st)x 2, dc (10,14), (2dc in same st)x 6, dc (10,14), (2dc in same st)x 3, sl st to join. (44,52 sts)
Round 3: Ch 3, dc in same st, (dc, 2 dc in same st)x 3, dc (8,12), (2dc in same st, dc)x 3, (2dc in same st)x 2, (2dc in same st, dc)x 3, dc(8,12), (2dc in same st, dc)x 3, 2dc in same st, sl st to join. (60,68 sts)
Fasten off and cut the yarn for the 1st sole.
Do not cut the yarn for the 2nd sole in order to join both soles together.
Align both soles stitch by stitch, insert the hook in both sts together, draw up a loop, and make a sl st.
Continue making sl sts around the soles. (52,60 sl st)
Fasten off and cut the yarn. Weave in all the ends.
FRONT(COVERED) PART (MAKE 2):
With Color B, ch 7 (size S), ch 9 (size L)
Row 1: Sk 1st ch (do not count as st), sc, (do not sk sts) (ch 1, sc) x (5, 7), turn. (6,8 sts, 5,7 ch sps)
Row 2: Ch 1 (do not count as st here and after), inc, (ch 1, sc in ch sp)x (5,7), ch 1, inc in the last st, turn. (9,11 sts, 6,8 ch sps)
Row 3: Ch 1, inc, (ch 1, sc in ch sp)x (6,8), ch 1, inc in the last st, turn. (10,12 sts, 7,9 ch sps)
Row 4: Ch 1, inc, (ch 1, sc in ch sp)x (7,9), ch 1, inc in the last st, turn. (11,13 sts, 8,10 ch sps)
Row 5: Ch 1, inc, (ch 1, sc in ch sp)x (8,10), ch 1, inc in the last st, turn. (12,14 sts, 9,11 ch sps)
Row 6: Ch 1, sc, (ch 1, sc in ch sp)x (9,11), ch 1, sc in the last st. (11,13 sts, 10,12 ch sps)
Row 7: Ch 1, sc, (sc in ch sp, ch 1)x (9,11), sc in ch sp, sc in the last st, turn. (12,14 sts, 9,11 ch sps)
Rows 8-11 (4 rows): Repeat Rows 6 and 7, 2 times.
Rows 12-14 (3 rows for large size only): Repeat Rows 6 and 7, finishing on Row 6.
Last row: Ch 1, sc in each st and ch sp across. Fasten off and cut the yarn, leaving a long thread for sewing.
Sew this part with sl sts as instructed below.
For small size:
Sew the edges of each row with sts 16 to 27 of the sole, (12 sts total)
Sew the 6 foundation ch to the st 28 to 33, (6 sts total)
Sew the other edge of each row with the sts 34 to 45. (12 sts total)
For large size:
Sew the edges of each row with the sts 16 to 30 of the sole, (15 sts total)
Sew the 8 foundation ch to the sts 31 to 38 of the sole, (8 sts total)
Sew the other edge of each row with the sts 39 to 53 of the sole. (15 sts total)
Fasten off and weave in all the ends.
BACK PART (MAKE 2):
With color B, make 32 chs
Row 1: Sk 2 chs (do not count 1st ch as st, 2nd ch is for 1st ch sp, here and after), sk 1 ch, sc, (ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc)x 14. (15 sts, 15 ch sps)
Row 2: Ch 2, sk 1 st, sc, (ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc)x 14. (15 sts, 15 ch sps)
Rows 3-4 (2 rows): Repeat row 2, 2 times.
Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each st and ch sp across. (30 sts)
Fasten off and cut the yarn, leaving a long thread for sewing.
Use this extra yarn to sew the edges of each row to the 5 sts of the front part. Continue stitching the long side to the sole by sl st.
Sew the remaining other side of the edges to the 5 sts of the front part. (see photo)
Fasten off and weave in all the ends.
