    2-Plastic safety eyes - 14 mm
    Stuffing for toys
    Tapestry needle
    Sewing pins or extra stitch markers

Abbreviations (US Terms)

  • ch: chain
  • dc: double crochet
  • dec: invisible decrease (see below)
  • inc: increase (work 2 single crochet stitches into the same stitch or space)
  • sc: single crochet
  • st(s): stitch(es)
  • (...)x # - work instructions within parentheses as many times as directed (#)
  • (# sts) - indicates the total number (#) of stitches you should have at the end of the round/row

Special Stitches

invisible decrease (dec) - insert hook in FRONT LOOP ONLY of next two stitches (which results in two more loops on hook), yarn over, pull through two loops on hook, yarn over, pull through last two loops on hook

6dc Bobble st - *yarn over, insert hook in stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through two loops on hook; repeat from * five more times into the SAME stitch, yarn over and pull through all loops on hook. Make a chain to secure all stitches.

Round 2: Inc around. (16 sts)
Round 3: (Sc, inc)x 8. (24 sts)
Round 4: (Sc 2, inc)x 8. (32 sts)
Round 5: (Sc 3, inc)x 8. (40 sts)
Rounds 6-11 (6 rounds): Sc 40.
Round 12: (Sc 8, dec)x 4. (36 sts)
Round 13: Sc 36.
Round 14: (Sc 7, dec)x 4. (32 sts)
Round 15: Sc 32.
Round 16: (Sc 6, dec)x 4. (28 sts)

Attach the eyes in Round 21, 8 sts apart. Stuff the Body.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Using a tapestry needle, thread the yarn tail through each st of the last round and pull to close. Hide the yarn end inside the Body.

EARS (MAKE 2)

Round 1: 8sc in a Magic Ring. (8 sts)
Round 2: (Inc)x 6, leave 2 sts unworked. (12 sts made)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail to attach to Body.

LEGS (MAKE 4)

Using sewing pins or extra stitch markers, mark 4 sts on the underside of the Body: mark 2 sts (4 sts apart) as front legs in Round 18, and 2 sts (4 sts apart) as back legs in Round 10 (see photos in downloadable PDF).
For each leg: 
1. Insert hook in the marked st and pull up a loop of yarn.
2. Ch 2, make a 6dc Bobble st in the marked st.
3. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
4. Using the yarn tails, secure the bobble st by sewing it to the round above the marked st.
5. Hide yarn ends in the Body.

TAIL

Round 1: Ch11, skip 1 ch, (inc)st x 9, sc. (19 sts)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail to attach to Body.

ATTACHING THE TAIL

Using the yarn tail of the Tail, sew the Tail to Round 6 of the Body.
Secure the yarn end, then hide it inside the toy.

ATTACHING THE EARS

Pin the Ears on the head at Round 18 of the Body. 
Using the yarn tails from the Ears, sew the Ears in place.
Secure the yarn ends, then hide them inside the toy.
